In the run-up to this year’s European Athletics Championships, Nike approached Karmarama with a project to create bespoke pieces of content as part of the launch of their latest Pegasus Turbo product.
How we helped
We worked with documentary film Director Ian Derry to produce three bespoke athlete films and brought them together in a campaign called ‘Portraits of Speed’.
The tripartite series related the personal stories of 100m specialist Reece Prescod, 200m World Champion Dafne Schippers and 1500m runner Konstanze Klosterhalven as they explored their quest for athletic success through atmospheric locations in Berlin – where the 2018 European Athletic Championships were hosted.
The series was unveiled on the eve of the European Athletics Championships, exclusively to media at the Nike Fast Lab media house in Berlin, and followed by an interview with Ian Derry.
The series was the first ever IGTV content distributed across Nike News Global channels. The campaign reached millions more through EMEA media partners as well as the featured athletes’ personal profiles. Media features included Vanity Fair and Gazzetta Dello Sport in Italy, Die Welt in Germany and High Snobiety and The Guardian in the UK.
